Ben Nestrud is the founder and lead rigger at Ben’s Marine & Motorsports. He brings a rare combination of formal technical training, hands-on mechanical experience, and lifelong time on the water. Ben attended Alexandria Technical & Community College, where he studied marine, motorcycle, and powersports technology. During his time there, he placed first in Minnesota and second nationally at SkillsUSA, competing against the top technical students in the country.
Before entering the marine and motorsports industry full time, Ben served in the United States Marine Corps as a machine gunner. That experience shaped his approach to work today. Attention to detail, discipline, and doing things correctly the first time are non-negotiable.
Fishing has been a constant throughout Ben’s life. He rigs boats, ice houses, and powersports equipment the way he would want his own set up, clean, reliable, and built for real use, not shortcuts.
At Ben’s Marine, Ben remains hands-on with every major rigging project, from electronics and LiveScope systems to trolling motors, power management, and complex integrations across boats, ice houses, and motorsports platforms.
