Garmin GPSMAP 923 Non-sonar with Worldwide Basemap
The GPSMAP 923 is a 9-inch IPS touchscreen chartplotter with a slimline, edge-to-edge glass design that fits in a wider range of dash configurations than older GPSMAP units. It ships with a worldwide basemap, so you'll need to add charts separately, but it supports Garmin Navionics+ and BlueChart g3 Vision for full US inland and coastal coverage. The display has 50% more pixels than the previous generation 9-inch GPSMAP, and it reads well in direct sunlight from any angle.
What It Does on the Water
The GPSMAP 923 connects to your Garmin Marine Network to share maps, radar, sonar, and IP camera feeds across multiple units on the same boat. It supports NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 for autopilots, VHF, AIS, digital switching, and other sensors. Built-in Wi-Fi connects to the ActiveCaptain app for chart purchases, software updates, and access to the Garmin Quickdraw Contours community.
It pairs with Panoptix and LiveScope sonar via a compatible black box sonar module, sold separately. For sailors, it includes laylines, race start line guidance, wind rose, true wind data, and set and drift on screen. Engine connectivity supports select Yamaha engines, and OneHelm integration brings EmpirBus digital switching onto one screen.
