Garmin GPSMAP 1223
The GPSMAP 1223 is a 12-inch IPS touchscreen chartplotter with a slimline, edge-to-edge glass design and HDMI video output for sending your display to a second screen at the helm. It ships with a worldwide basemap, so charts need to be purchased separately, but it supports Garmin Navionics+ and BlueChart g3 Vision for full US inland and coastal coverage. Two Garmin Marine Network ports give you more flexibility when building out a multi-unit helm.
What It Does on the Water
The GPSMAP 1223 connects to your Garmin Marine Network to share maps, radar, sonar, and IP camera feeds across multiple units on the same boat. It supports NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 for autopilots, VHF, AIS, digital switching, and other sensors. Built-in Wi-Fi connects to the ActiveCaptain app for chart purchases, software updates, and access to the Garmin Quickdraw Contours community.
It pairs with Panoptix and LiveScope sonar via a compatible black box sonar module, sold separately. For sailors, it includes laylines, race start line guidance, wind rose, true wind data, and set and drift on screen. Engine connectivity supports select Yamaha engines, and OneHelm integration brings EmpirBus digital switching onto one screen.
