What It Does on the Water

The GPSMAP 1022 runs a keypad interface with a multifunction control knob, which a lot of anglers prefer over a touchscreen when the water gets rough or your hands are wet. The 10-inch display is large enough to run sonar, charts, and navigation side by side without squinting. It connects to your Garmin Marine Network to share sonar, maps, radar, and user data across multiple units on the same boat, and it supports NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 for autopilots, VHF, AIS, and other sensors.

No charts come preloaded on this unit, but it supports optional BlueChart g3 Vision and LakeVü g3 Ultra premium charts, which you can purchase and load via SD card or the ActiveCaptain app over Wi-Fi. The included LiveScope Plus system gives you real-time forward and down sonar so you can watch fish react to your lure before the bite.
