The GPSMAP 1643 is a 16-inch chartplotter for anglers and boaters who want a clean, capable display and plan to add their own sonar. There is no built-in sonar module on this unit, just a fast, sunlight-readable IPS touchscreen, Navionics+ charts out of the box, and full compatibility with LiveScope, Panoptix, and CHIRP transducers. If you already have a sonar setup or are adding LiveScope separately, this is the right display.

What It Does on the Water

The 1643 handles navigation, vessel monitoring, and sonar display from a single 16-inch screen. Navionics+ charts with Auto Guidance+ are preloaded. The Garmin Marine Network connects your radar, cameras, autopilot, and Force trolling motor. Add a LiveScope or Panoptix transducer and you get real-time live sonar on the same display. It is a well-connected helm display that works with the gear you already have or plan to add.
